Alright readers, it has been 2 months since the inception of My Debt Regret and i want to do a recap of what i have sustained so far.
I have completely paid off my highest APR credit card. It was a card with a 17.9% (the APR i got for Ignoring my Debt) The card had a balance of $600. So i tackled this debt in two months by using techniques such as Debt Tip #2 , Earning More , and Selling Belongings. With this debt gone i slowly started to look at my other debts
My next highest APR debt is a personal loan for $500 at 16% APR. This debt has been chopped down a fair amount but not much to write about.
In the mean time i paid off a great chunk of debt i owed my parents. Of course at 0% APR (because my parents are not loan sharks) you would expect me to pay this off last. But to stay in good standings with them, and to show that i am actually determined to pay them off, i paid them $400 in these last two months.
My biggest concern is my credit card with a balance of $3,000. With an average APR this card is costing me quite a bit. I have taken it down with minimum payments these last two months because my other higher APR debts were my main focus.
I also have been paying the minimums on a very low APR car loan. This loan is not a big stress creator in my life for a few reasons. 1, the car is worth more than the loan so if i had to sell i know i could pay off the loan. 2. It is a very low APR, the lowest besides my 0% APR loan from my parents. 3. The loan balance is very low.
I do not know what you would call this strategy. It is not the typical pay minimum on all debts except the highest APR, it is more like an all out war. I feel that it is.
This debt that is overwhelming not because there is so much of it, but because i do not make the a lot of money. I am a very average person, and this debt is more than average. I feel as anyone in debt does. Constricted by the bills i have to pay each passing month. With no financial freedom at the moment. I constantly tell people i can not do this or that, for the main reason that i do not have the money to do so.
Being in debt means i miss opportunities or events i would normally be excited for. Luxuries must be planned for, and i barely scrape by to purchase them. My financial freedom is in sight though.
I have been graced with a new job recently, with which i will be making almost two times as much as my current job. I know what you might be thinking, making more will only get me out of debt faster if i apply all extra money to debt and keep my other spending the same.
That is exactly what i plan to do. Stay tuned for a full write up on my new debt payoff plan. Coming up soon.
